Did you know that a big part of pollution is caused by plastic bottled water? So why do people still drink bottled water? Most of the people who buy plastic bottled water don't always recycle them. For every six water bottles we use, only one makes it to the recycling bin. The rest are sent to landfills. Since plastic breaks down at a very slow rate, these will remain in our landfills for hundreds of years to come. Plastics bottles are made from oil, natural gas, and other toxic chemicals, both of which are non-renewable resources. Bottled water produces up to 1.5 million tons of plastic waste per year (Chris Baskind, March 15, 2010). The processes used to make plastics can cause serious pollution affecting both the environment and human health. It's not just the bottles that are polluting our environment it's also the transportation of the bottles. Millions of gallons of fuel are wasted daily transporting bottled water across America and around the world. So the best thing we humans can do is always recycle our plastic bottles (if you drink bottled water). Make responsible choices and do not forget the 3 R's: Reduce,Reuse,Recycle. Do you think that people can start doing that everyday?

I definitely agree that plastic bottled water is a big problem especialy since one out of five americans drink only bottled water, in fact 60million plastic water bottels a day which is 21,9000,000,000 bottels a year are manufactuerd(Eric Olsen, Natural resources defense council). Most studies show that bottled water has the same or lower quality than tap water, some chemicals in the bottels like bisphonenol A case health problems (Dr.Leo Trasande) so imagine the environmental effects! a great alternitive to bottled water is a home water filter it gives you a better quality tap water and it's one tenth the cost of bottled water, so your water will taste better and be cleaner for one tenth the cost of bottled water! instead of useing plastic bottles full of harmfull chemicals you can use a glass or aluminium bottel which is environmentaly friendly and machine washable, these bottles also come in all sorts of colours and styles to match your personality.Do we really need bottled water when we have great and inexpensive alternatives? why not stop buying botteld water all together?

Though water bottle sales have a good effect on the economy, for some reason many people don't think of recycling, is it really that difficult? If you know you aren't going to recycle a positive alternative could be to just buy a reusable one. Though often many of these bottles contain bpa and lead which can cause many health issues. A medical study that was done, observing the negative affect of bpa on the human body discovered it can cause breast cancer, infertility, and other forms cancer. If pregnant women ingest bpa it can cause birth defects or reduced birth weight. Exposure to bpa may also cause the pregnant mother to miscarry. So reusable water bottles could be a positive alternative but always check the label to make sure it is fda approved or you could be putting the health of your family as well as your own health at risk..
